Battle of Nagashino
The Battle of Nagashino took place in June 1575 during the Sengoku period in Japan. It was fought between the forces of Tokugawa Ieyasu and Oda Nobunaga against the Takeda clan, led by Takeda Katsuyori. The battle is notable for the effective use of firearms by the Oda and Tokugawa forces, which marked a significant shift in Japanese warfare.
The battle occurred near the Nagashino Castle in present-day Aichi Prefecture. The Oda and Tokugawa forces utilized a defensive strategy, employing a series of wooden palisades to protect their arquebusiers. This innovative approach contributed to their decisive victory over the Takeda, leading to the decline of the Takeda clan's power.
