Battle of Mactan
The Battle of Mactan took place on April 27, 1521, in the Philippines. It was a conflict between the forces of the Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan and the local warriors led by Lapu-Lapu, a chieftain of Mactan Island. Magellan aimed to assert Spanish control over the islands and convert the locals to Christianity.
