Battle of Gujrat
The Battle of Gujrat took place on February 21, 1849, during the Second Anglo-Sikh War. It was fought between the forces of the British East India Company and the Sikh Empire. The British, led by General Sir Charles Napier, aimed to consolidate their control over the Punjab region after previous conflicts.
The battle resulted in a decisive victory for the British, leading to the annexation of the Punjab. Following this defeat, the Sikh Empire effectively ceased to exist as an independent state, and the British expanded their influence in India, marking a significant moment in the history of British colonial rule.
