Battle of Fallen Timbers
The Battle of Fallen Timbers took place on August 20, 1794, near present-day Toledo, Ohio. It was a significant conflict between the United States forces, led by General Anthony Wayne, and a confederation of Native American tribes, including the Miami and Shawnee. The battle was part of the larger struggle for control over the Northwest Territory.
The U.S. victory at Fallen Timbers effectively ended Native American resistance in the region. Following the battle, the Treaty of Greenville was signed in 1795, which established boundaries and opened up much of present-day Ohio to American settlement. This marked a crucial turning point in U.S. expansion.
