Battle of Dunkeld
The Battle of Dunkeld took place on August 21, 1689, during the Williamite War in Ireland. It was fought between the forces of the Jacobites, who supported the deposed King James II, and the Williamite troops loyal to King William III. The battle occurred near the town of Dunkeld in Scotland, where the Jacobites aimed to capture a strategic position.
The Jacobite forces, numbering around 1,500, faced approximately 1,000 Williamite soldiers. Despite being outnumbered, the Williamites, led by Major-General Hugh Mackay, successfully defended their position. The battle ended with a Williamite victory, solidifying their control in the region.
