Battle of Airds Moss
The Battle of Airds Moss took place on 2nd June 1680 in Scotland during the period of the Covenanter uprisings. It was a conflict between the forces of the Scottish government, loyal to King Charles II, and the Covenanters, who opposed the king's attempts to impose Anglicanism. The battle occurred near the village of Airds Moss in Ayrshire.
The Covenanters, led by William Wallace, were outnumbered and faced a well-equipped government army. Despite their bravery, the Covenanters were defeated, leading to increased repression against them. This battle is significant in the history of the Scottish struggle for religious freedom.
