Battle of Langside
The Battle of Langside took place on May 13, 1568, near Glasgow, Scotland. It was a significant conflict during the power struggle between the supporters of Mary, Queen of Scots and those loyal to Queen Elizabeth I of England. The battle was fought between Mary’s forces, led by James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell, and the troops of the Protestant faction, commanded by James Stewart, 1st Earl of Moray.
The outcome of the battle was a decisive victory for Moray's forces, which forced Mary to flee to England for protection. This defeat marked a turning point in the political landscape of Scotland, leading to the consolidation of Protestant power and the eventual decline of Mary's influence in the region.
