Battle Of Bannockburn
The Battle of Bannockburn took place on June 23-24, 1314, during the First War of Scottish Independence. It was fought between the forces of the Kingdom of Scotland, led by Robert the Bruce, and the English army commanded by King Edward II. This battle was significant as it marked a major victory for the Scots, helping to secure their independence from English rule.
The battle occurred near the town of Bannockburn, close to Stirling, Scotland. The Scottish army, though outnumbered, utilized their knowledge of the terrain and effective tactics, including the use of schiltrons (a formation of spearmen). The victory at Bannockburn solidified Robert the Bruce's position as King of Scots and inspired further resistance against English domination.
