Basilica of Saint-Sernin
The Basilica of Saint-Sernin is a prominent Romanesque church located in Toulouse, France. Built between the 11th and 14th centuries, it is one of the largest remaining Romanesque structures in Europe. The basilica is dedicated to Saint Sernin, the first bishop of Toulouse, and is a significant pilgrimage site on the route to Santiago de Compostela.
The church features a distinctive octagonal bell tower and a spacious interior adorned with beautiful stained glass windows. Its architectural design includes a cruciform layout and a series of chapels, showcasing the rich history of the Romanesque architecture style. The basilica was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1998.
