Basilica of Our Lady of Peace
The Basilica of Our Lady of Peace is located in Yamoussoukro, the political capital of Ivory Coast. Completed in 1990, it is one of the largest churches in the world, inspired by the famous St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. The basilica is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and serves as a significant religious site for Catholics in the region.
The structure features a stunning dome that rises 158 meters high, adorned with beautiful stained glass windows and intricate mosaics. It can accommodate up to 18,000 worshippers, making it a central place for religious gatherings and ceremonies in West Africa.
