Basaveshwara
Basaveshwara was a 12th-century philosopher and statesman from India, known for his role in the Lingayat movement. He emphasized the importance of social equality and spiritual devotion, advocating for a direct relationship with God without the need for intermediaries.
He founded the Anubhava Mantapa, a forum for discussion and debate on spiritual and social issues. His teachings focused on the values of honesty, integrity, and compassion, influencing many followers. Basaveshwara is celebrated as a saint and reformer, and his legacy continues to inspire people in Karnataka and beyond.
