Baltimore-class
The Baltimore-class was a class of heavy cruisers built for the United States Navy during World War II. These ships were designed to provide naval gunfire support and anti-aircraft defense. They featured a displacement of around 13,600 tons and were equipped with nine 8-inch guns, along with various anti-aircraft weaponry.
Commissioned between 1943 and 1946, the Baltimore-class cruisers played significant roles in the Pacific Theater. They participated in major battles, including those at Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and were known for their speed and firepower. A total of 15 ships were completed, with several remaining in service into the 1970s.
