Balthasar Permoser
Balthasar Permoser was a notable German sculptor born in 1651 in Dresden. He is best known for his intricate baroque sculptures, which often featured religious themes and elaborate details. His work contributed significantly to the artistic landscape of the Dresden region during the late 17th century.
Permoser studied under the guidance of Giovanni Battista Foggini in Florence and later returned to Dresden, where he became the court sculptor. His most famous works include the tomb of August the Strong and various statues in the Zwinger Palace. Permoser passed away in 1732, leaving a lasting legacy in European sculpture.
