The Balkan League was a military alliance formed in 1912 between four Balkan states: Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, and Montenegro. Its primary goal was to drive the Ottoman Empire out of the Balkans and gain independence for the territories still under Ottoman control. The alliance was motivated by shared interests and a desire for territorial expansion.
The League successfully coordinated its efforts during the First Balkan War, which began in October 1912. The combined forces of the member states achieved significant victories against the Ottomans, leading to the Treaty of London in May 1913, which resulted in substantial territorial gains for the Balkan states. However, tensions soon arose among the allies over the division of the conquered lands.
