Bali's Nyepi
Bali's Nyepi is the Balinese New Year, celebrated with a day of silence, fasting, and meditation. It usually falls in March and marks the start of the lunar calendar. On this day, the island comes to a standstill, with no activities allowed, including travel, work, and entertainment.
The day before Nyepi, vibrant parades feature Ogoh-Ogoh, large demon effigies that are carried through the streets and then burned to symbolize the cleansing of negative energies. This unique celebration emphasizes self-reflection and spiritual renewal, making it a significant cultural event for the Balinese people.
