Baking Stone
A baking stone is a flat, usually rectangular piece of natural stone or ceramic used in ovens to improve baking results. It retains heat and distributes it evenly, helping to create a crispy crust on bread, pizza, and other baked goods. When preheated, the stone mimics the effects of a traditional brick oven, allowing for better moisture absorption and heat retention.
To use a baking stone, it should be placed in the oven during preheating. Once hot, dough can be placed directly on the stone or on a pizza peel for easy transfer. Proper care includes avoiding sudden temperature changes to prevent cracking.
