Bakewell Pudding
Bakewell Pudding is a traditional English dessert that originated in the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire. It consists of a flaky pastry base filled with a layer of jam, typically raspberry, and topped with a rich almond-flavored sponge made from ground almonds, sugar, butter, and eggs.
Unlike the more widely known Bakewell Tart, which has a shortcrust pastry and is often topped with icing, Bakewell Pudding is simpler and has a more rustic appearance. It is usually served warm or at room temperature, often accompanied by cream or custard for added richness.
