B. K. S. Iyengar
B. K. S. Iyengar was an influential Indian yoga teacher, known for developing the style of yoga called Iyengar Yoga. Born in 1918, he began practicing yoga at a young age and later studied under T. Krishnamacharya, a prominent yoga master. Iyengar emphasized precision and alignment in yoga postures, making the practice accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
Iyengar authored several books on yoga, including the well-known Light on Yoga, which has inspired countless practitioners worldwide. He founded the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India, where he taught and trained teachers until his passing in 2014.
