Atomic Bombings
The atomic bombings refer to the use of nuclear weapons by the United States during World War II. On August 6 and August 9, 1945, the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan were targeted, resulting in massive destruction and loss of life. The bomb dropped on Hiroshima was called Little Boy, while the one on Nagasaki was named Fat Man.
These bombings played a significant role in Japan's surrender, effectively ending the war. The events raised ethical questions about the use of nuclear weapons and their long-term effects on survivors, known as hibakusha, and the environment.
