Assassination of Julius Caesar
The Assassination of Julius Caesar occurred on March 15, 44 BCE, in Rome. Julius Caesar, a prominent military leader and dictator, was targeted by a group of senators who feared his growing power and potential to become a tyrant. The conspirators, including Brutus and Cassius, believed that killing Caesar would restore the Roman Republic.
On the day of the assassination, Caesar was warned by a soothsayer to "beware the Ides of March." Despite the warning, he attended a Senate meeting where he was surrounded by the conspirators. They attacked him, stabbing him multiple times, leading to his death and significant political turmoil in Rome.
