Asian Beetle
The Asian Beetle, also known as the Asian lady beetle or Harmonia axyridis, is a small, oval-shaped insect that can vary in color from yellow to orange and even black. It is often recognized by its distinctive spots, which can range from zero to twenty. Originally from Asia, this beetle was introduced to North America in the 1970s for pest control, as it feeds on aphids and other harmful insects.
While the Asian Beetle is beneficial in gardens and agricultural settings, it can become a nuisance when it invades homes during the fall and winter months. They tend to seek shelter in warm places, often clustering in large numbers. Although they are not harmful to humans, their presence can be bothersome, and they may leave stains if crushed.
