Ash'arism
Ash'arism is a theological school of thought within Islam founded by the scholar Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari in the 10th century. It emphasizes the importance of divine revelation and the role of reason in understanding faith. Ash'arites believe that God's attributes are real but not comparable to human attributes, and they advocate for a balance between rational thought and traditional beliefs.
The Ash'ari school emerged as a response to various philosophical and theological challenges, particularly from Mu'tazilism, which emphasized human reason over divine will. Ash'arism has significantly influenced Sunni Islamic theology and remains a prominent school of thought among many Muslims today.
