Armagnac brandy
Armagnac brandy is a type of distilled spirit made from grapes, primarily produced in the Armagnac region of southwestern France. It is known for its rich flavors and aromas, which develop through a unique aging process in oak barrels. Unlike its more famous counterpart, Cognac, Armagnac is typically distilled using pot stills, resulting in a fuller-bodied spirit.
The production of Armagnac involves several grape varieties, including Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard. After fermentation, the wine is distilled and then aged for a minimum of one year, although many varieties are aged much longer. This aging process contributes to its complex taste, making it a popular choice among brandy enthusiasts.
