Aristides, often referred to as "Aristides the Just," was an ancient Greek statesman and general known for his integrity and fairness. He lived during the 5th century BCE and played a significant role in the early years of the Athenian democracy. Aristides was a contemporary of Themistocles and was involved in the Persian Wars, notably at the Battle of Marathon.
He is best remembered for his leadership in the formation of the Delian League, an alliance of Greek city-states aimed at defending against Persian aggression. Aristides was also known for his commitment to justice, which earned him the nickname "the Just." His legacy continues to be celebrated as a symbol of fairness in governance.
