Arctic Languages
Arctic languages refer to the diverse group of languages spoken by indigenous peoples in the Arctic region, including areas in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, and Russia. These languages belong to several language families, such as the Eskimo-Aleut family, which includes Inuit and Yupik languages, and the Chukchi-Koryak family, spoken in northeastern Siberia.
Many Arctic languages are endangered due to the influence of dominant languages like English and Russian. Efforts are being made to preserve these languages through education and cultural initiatives, as they hold significant cultural heritage and knowledge about the Arctic environment and traditional lifestyles.
