Archduke Albert of Austria
Archduke Albert of Austria was a member of the Habsburg dynasty, born on November 2, 1590. He was the son of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria and Maria Anna of Bavaria. Albert is best known for his role as the Governor of the Spanish Netherlands from 1596 until his death in 1621, where he worked to maintain Habsburg control in the region during a time of conflict.
During his governance, Albert focused on military and economic stability, promoting trade and agriculture. He was married to Infanta Isabella Clara Eugenia, the daughter of King Philip II of Spain, which strengthened ties between the Habsburgs and the Spanish crown.
