Arahura
Arahura is a river located on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. It flows from the Southern Alps and empties into the Tasman Sea near the town of Hokitika. The river is known for its scenic beauty and is a popular spot for outdoor activities such as fishing and hiking.
The name "Arahura" comes from the Māori language, meaning "pathway to light." The river is significant in Māori culture and is associated with the legend of Māui, a demigod who is said to have fished up the North Island. Arahura is also known for its pounamu (greenstone), which holds cultural importance for the Māori people.
