Antlion
An antlion is an insect belonging to the family Myrmeleontidae, known for its unique predatory behavior. The larvae, often called "doodlebugs," create conical pits in sandy soil to trap unsuspecting ants and other small insects. Once an insect falls into the pit, the antlion quickly captures it, using its powerful jaws.
Adult antlions resemble dragonflies and are typically nocturnal. They have long, slender bodies and large, delicate wings. Unlike their larvae, adult antlions do not create pits; instead, they hunt for prey in flight. Their life cycle includes a pupal stage, during which they undergo metamorphosis before emerging as adults.
