Doodlebug
A "Doodlebug" is a colloquial term that can refer to different things depending on the context. In entomology, it often describes the larval stage of a antlion, a predatory insect known for its unique hunting method. Doodlebug larvae create conical pits in sandy soil to trap unsuspecting prey, such as ants, that fall into the pit.
In a different context, "Doodlebug" can also refer to a type of V-1 flying bomb used during World War II. These early cruise missiles were launched by the Germans and were known for their distinctive buzzing sound, which led to the nickname.
