Antiochus VII
Antiochus VII, also known as Antiochus VII Sidetes, was a king of the Seleucid Empire who reigned from 138 to 129 BCE. He was the son of Antiochus VI and came to power during a time of significant turmoil within the empire, which was struggling with internal conflicts and external threats. Antiochus VII is known for his military campaigns aimed at restoring the empire's territories and authority.
During his reign, Antiochus VII successfully fought against the Parthian Empire and attempted to reclaim lost lands. He also faced challenges from the Hasmonean dynasty in Judea. His efforts to stabilize the empire were met with mixed results, and he ultimately died in battle, leaving a legacy of both ambition and struggle for the Seleucid dynasty.
