Ante Starčević
Ante Starčević was a prominent Croatian politician, writer, and publicist, born on May 23, 1823, in the village of Račinovci. He is often referred to as the "Father of the Homeland" for his significant contributions to Croatian nationalism and the promotion of Croatian identity during the 19th century. Starčević was a key figure in the Croatian National Revival, advocating for the rights and autonomy of the Croatian people within the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
As a member of the Croatian Parliament, Starčević championed the idea of an independent Croatian state. He founded the Party of Rights in 1861, which aimed to unite Croatians and promote their interests. His writings and speeches emphasized the importance of national sovereignty and cultural heritage, making him a lasting symbol of Croatian nationalism.
