Anisakiasis
Anisakiasis is a parasitic infection caused by the larvae of Anisakis worms, which are commonly found in marine fish and seafood. When humans consume raw or undercooked fish infected with these larvae, they can experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.
The infection is most often associated with eating sushi, sashimi, or other dishes made from raw fish. To reduce the risk of anisakiasis, it is recommended to properly cook fish or freeze it at specific temperatures to kill any potential larvae before consumption.
