Animal Defense Mechanisms
Animal defense mechanisms are strategies that animals use to protect themselves from predators. These mechanisms can be physical, such as sharp claws or tough shells, or behavioral, like fleeing or hiding. Some animals, like the octopus, can even change color to blend in with their surroundings, a tactic known as camouflage.
In addition to physical and behavioral defenses, some animals employ chemical defenses. For example, the skunk releases a foul-smelling spray to deter threats. Other species, like certain frogs, produce toxins that can harm or kill predators. These adaptations help animals survive in their environments.
