Andromeda II
Andromeda II is a satellite galaxy of the Andromeda Galaxy, located approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth. It is part of the Local Group of galaxies, which also includes the Milky Way and several other smaller galaxies. Andromeda II is relatively small and is thought to contain a mix of old stars and some younger star populations.
Discovered in the 1950s, Andromeda II is classified as a dwarf spheroidal galaxy. Its low luminosity and lack of significant gas make it less prominent than larger galaxies. Studies of Andromeda II help astronomers understand galaxy formation and evolution within the Local Group.
