Anatolian Religions
Anatolian religions refer to the diverse spiritual practices and beliefs of the ancient peoples of Anatolia, a region that is now part of modern-day Turkey. These religions were polytheistic, worshipping a variety of gods and goddesses associated with natural elements, fertility, and agriculture. Key deities included Kubele, the mother goddess, and Tarhun, the storm god, reflecting the agricultural lifestyle of the inhabitants.
The religious practices often involved rituals, sacrifices, and festivals to honor the deities and ensure prosperity. Temples and sacred sites, such as Hattusa, served as centers for worship and community gatherings. Over time, these beliefs influenced and were influenced by neighboring cultures, including the Hittites and later Greeks.
