Anaerobic Capacity
Anaerobic capacity refers to the maximum amount of energy that can be produced by the body without using oxygen. This energy system is primarily utilized during high-intensity activities lasting from a few seconds to about two minutes, such as sprinting or heavy weightlifting. It relies on stored energy sources, like ATP and creatine phosphate, to fuel short bursts of effort.
Training to improve anaerobic capacity often involves high-intensity interval training (HIIT) or specific exercises that push the body to its limits. Enhancing this capacity can lead to better performance in sports that require quick, explosive movements, such as football or basketball.
