Anabas Testudineus
Anabas testudineus, commonly known as the climbing perch, is a freshwater fish native to Southeast Asia. It is notable for its ability to move across land, using its pectoral fins to "walk" and breathe air through a specialized labyrinth organ. This adaptation allows it to survive in shallow waters and migrate between ponds.
The climbing perch typically grows to about 25 centimeters in length and has a distinctive, elongated body with a spiny dorsal fin. It is often found in marshes, swamps, and rice paddies, where it feeds on small invertebrates and plant matter, playing a role in the local ecosystem.
