Ampato
Ampato is a prominent volcano located in the Andes mountain range of southern Peru. It stands at an elevation of approximately 6,288 meters (20,630 feet) and is part of the Arequipa region. The volcano is known for its snow-capped peak and is a popular destination for climbers and hikers.
The last significant eruption of Ampato occurred in 1782, but it remains an active volcano. The area surrounding the volcano is rich in biodiversity and features unique ecosystems. Additionally, Ampato is famous for the discovery of the mummified remains of a young Inca girl, known as "Juanita," which provided valuable insights into Inca culture and rituals.
