America-class
The "America-class" refers to a class of amphibious assault ships used by the United States Navy. These ships are designed to support Marine Corps operations and can carry a variety of aircraft, including MV-22 Ospreys and F-35B Lightning II jets. They are equipped with a well deck for launching and recovering landing craft and amphibious vehicles.
The first ship of this class, the USS America (LHA-6), was commissioned in 2014. The America-class ships are larger and more capable than their predecessors, the Wasp-class, allowing for enhanced operational flexibility and increased troop and equipment capacity during amphibious assaults and humanitarian missions.
