Alpine communities
Alpine communities are ecosystems found in high mountain regions, characterized by cold temperatures, strong winds, and limited vegetation. These areas typically exist above the tree line, where conditions are too harsh for most trees to grow. The flora in alpine communities includes hardy plants like mosses, lichens, and alpine flowers, which have adapted to survive in rocky, nutrient-poor soils.
Wildlife in alpine communities is also specially adapted to the environment. Animals such as mountain goats, pikas, and snow leopards thrive in these regions, often exhibiting unique behaviors and physical traits that help them cope with the extreme conditions. These communities play a crucial role in biodiversity and are sensitive to climate change.
