Subalpine Zone
The Subalpine Zone is a mountainous region found just below the tree line, typically at elevations between 2,400 and 3,600 meters (7,900 to 11,800 feet). This zone is characterized by cooler temperatures, shorter growing seasons, and a unique mix of vegetation, including hardy shrubs, grasses, and scattered coniferous trees like spruce and fir.
In the Subalpine Zone, the environment is influenced by factors such as elevation, climate, and soil type. This area often experiences heavy snowfall in winter and can be prone to avalanches. Wildlife, including species like mountain goats and elk, can also be found here, adapted to the challenging conditions.
