Alluvial Mining
Alluvial mining is a method of extracting valuable minerals from riverbeds, floodplains, or sedimentary deposits. This technique primarily targets materials like gold, diamonds, and tin, which are found in loose soil and gravel. Miners use simple tools such as shovels, pans, and sluice boxes to separate the minerals from the surrounding sediment.
The process involves washing the soil and gravel to allow heavier minerals to settle at the bottom. Alluvial mining is often practiced in remote areas where traditional mining methods are not feasible. While it can be less environmentally damaging than other mining techniques, it still poses risks to local ecosystems and communities.
