Allergy Immunotherapy
Allergy immunotherapy is a medical treatment designed to reduce sensitivity to allergens, which are substances that trigger allergic reactions. This therapy involves gradually exposing the patient to increasing amounts of the allergen, helping the immune system build tolerance over time. Common allergens treated include pollen, dust mites, pet dander, and certain foods.
The treatment can be administered through injections, known as subcutaneous immunotherapy, or under the tongue, referred to as sublingual immunotherapy. Allergy immunotherapy aims to provide long-term relief from allergy symptoms and can improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from chronic allergies.
