Alibata
Alibata, also known as Baybayin, is an ancient script used in the Philippines before Spanish colonization. It consists of characters that represent syllables rather than individual letters, making it a syllabary. Alibata was primarily used for writing Tagalog and other Philippine languages, and it features 17 basic characters, including vowels and consonants.
The script fell out of common use during the Spanish colonial period but has seen a revival in recent years. Today, Alibata is celebrated as a symbol of Filipino heritage and culture, often appearing in art, tattoos, and educational materials to promote awareness of Philippine history.
