Alfonso X of Castile
Alfonso X of Castile, also known as Alfonso the Wise, was a king who ruled from 1252 to 1284. He was born in 1221 and was a member of the House of Burgundy. Alfonso is known for his efforts to promote culture and learning, establishing the School of Translators in Toledo, which helped preserve and translate important texts from Arabic and Latin.
In addition to his cultural contributions, Alfonso X sought to expand his kingdom and strengthen its legal system. He is credited with creating the Siete Partidas, a comprehensive legal code that influenced Spanish law. His reign marked a significant period in the history of Castile and Spain.
