Alexander Wilson
Alexander Wilson was a Scottish-American ornithologist, poet, and artist, born on July 6, 1766, in Paisley, Scotland. He is best known for his significant contributions to the study of birds in North America. Wilson's most notable work, "American Ornithology," published between 1808 and 1814, was the first comprehensive account of North American birds.
In addition to his scientific achievements, Wilson was also a talented illustrator, creating detailed drawings of the birds he studied. His work laid the foundation for future ornithologists, including John James Audubon, who admired Wilson's dedication to the field.
