Alexander Nevsky
Alexander Nevsky was a 13th-century Russian prince and military leader known for his defense of the Novgorod Republic against foreign invaders. He is celebrated for his victory over the Swedish forces at the Battle of the Neva in 1240 and the Teutonic Knights at the Battle of Lake Peipus in 1242, which earned him the title "Nevsky," meaning "of the Neva."
Later canonized as a saint by the Russian Orthodox Church, Alexander Nevsky is regarded as a national hero in Russia. His legacy includes the promotion of Orthodox Christianity and the unification of Russian principalities, laying the groundwork for the future Russian state.
