Aleurites Moluccana
Aleurites moluccana, commonly known as the candlenut tree, is a tropical tree native to the Maluku Islands in Indonesia. It can grow up to 25 meters tall and produces round, green fruits that contain a single seed. The seeds are rich in oil and have been traditionally used for lighting, hence the name "candlenut."
The tree thrives in well-drained soils and prefers warm, humid climates. Its seeds are also used in cooking, particularly in Southeast Asian cuisine, where they are often ground into a paste. Additionally, the wood of the tree is valued for its durability and is used in various construction applications.
