Alessandro de' Medici
Alessandro de' Medici was an Italian nobleman born in 1510, known for being the first Duke of Florence. He was a member of the influential Medici family, which played a significant role in the political and cultural life of Renaissance Florence. Alessandro became Duke in 1532, following the fall of the Republic of Florence.
His rule was marked by attempts to consolidate power and strengthen the Medici dynasty. However, Alessandro faced opposition and was assassinated in 1537. His death led to a power struggle, ultimately resulting in the return of the Medici family to prominence in Florence.
