Al-Wifaq
Al-Wifaq is a prominent political society in Bahrain, founded in 2001. It primarily represents the interests of the Shia Muslim community and advocates for political reforms, human rights, and democratic governance in the country. The organization has played a significant role in Bahrain's political landscape, especially during the 2011 protests for greater political freedom.
The society has faced challenges, including government crackdowns and bans on its activities. In 2016, Al-Wifaq was dissolved by the Bahraini government, which cited its alleged involvement in promoting violence and sectarianism. Despite this, it continues to have a significant influence on the political discourse in Bahrain.
